Wind Power Contributes 50% of Electricity Demand

The wind has covered every Sunday morning more than 50 percent of electricity & energy demand. It has also achieved the record high of 11 546 megawatts with simultaneous electric generation.

Wind generation has again broken a record cover for several moments in the early hours of Sunday, 8 to 53 percent coverage of the simultaneous demand by around 10 170 MW, according to data from REE. Covered wind production from 03h00 to 08h30 more than fifty percent of the demand at those times ranging between 21 700 and 19 700 MW, with the lowest hours of 19,000 MW.

Wind generation and pinned on Wednesday and Thursday last for more than five hours, both days, over 40% of electricity demand.

Furthermore, in the first five days of November, the wind has been the first technology in the Spanish electricity production reaching 913 251 GWh, ahead of 907 894 combined cycle and nuclear power plant GWh 593 553 GWh, leadership that is consolidated with this week’s production.

The figure of 53 percent far exceeds the record reached last Thursday with 45.1 percent of demand, in turn, slightly exceeded the previous record of 43 percent was achieved in the early hours of November 24 last year.

Furthermore, on Sunday at 14h30 has also reached the maximum simultaneous with 11 546 MW, 343 MW more than the 11 202 that were achieved on 5 March, which at that time accounted for 29 percent coverage of demand .

ESA wants to emphasize, once again, the regular functioning of the electrical generation in these tips and remember that wind power in 2008 has covered 11.5% of electricity demand.
