Does Homebuilt Wind Generator Really Works?

Would it not be great to be able to produce your own electricity supply at home? The idea of being independently powered up without relying on the utility company is not that far away from becoming a reality. Homeowners are already buying into the idea of using homebuilt wind generators to make their own electricity supply.

But do these homebuilt wind generators work? Homemade wind power systems are a smaller scale version of those gigantic turbines that provide electricity to remote residential and industrial areas. Although using the same technology, home-based units are designed with a lower power output, quite enough to power up some if not all your electronics / electrical appliances. Before the emergence of DIY wind generators, these home wind power systems are manufactured and sold by a small number of companies.

But the problem was the high selling price involved and not many homeowners were willing to part with thousands of dollars for a product that helps cut down a small percentage of their electricity usage. So with wind generators being adapted into a build-at-home project, the idea of using homebuilt wind generators almost immediately picked up, especially with average income households desperate to cut down their monthly electricity bills. However, homebuilt wind generators are not designed to completely power a home. They use simple and cheap parts to substitute the space-age materials used in the more costly pre-fabricated version. Even so, it is not uncommon to be able to cut down a few thousand dollars from your power bill over a year.

All with a device that you can make from home for under $300. That is an impressive return of investment we are talking about. If you ask me, homebuilt wind generators certainly work. Although they may not be as efficient and powerful as a $3000 factory-made unit, building and using them for your home is a small but significant step towards being independently powered up.
