Mitigating the Peak-oil Impacts with Carbon-based Alternatives

carbon oil
One study that does address the peak-oil scenario directly is a 2005 report conducted for the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) entitled “Peaking of World Oil Production: Impacts, Mitigation, and Risk Management” (Hirsch, et al., 2005). This study acknowledged the risk of the peaking of world oil production and investigated strategies to mitigate the impacts. Because NETL is the government’s primary fossil energy research lab, it is not surprising that the report concludes that the way to solve our looming liquid fossil fuel problem is . . . with more fossil fuels. Practicality and Reliability of Alternative Fuels and Vehicles

The demand for alternative fuels to substitute current fossil fuels is increasing more that ever. This is because the less availability of fossil fuel and the negative side effects to environment are the main issue that needs to be handled. Renewable energy such as wind, solar, tidal, hydro, geothermal or thermal are gaining more popular. The biomass energy industry in the production of respiration and dead organic matter can be used as industrial production or as fuel. (more…)

Hydrogen Storage | Tanks, Materials, Technology, Methods

hydrogen storage tanks technology
The issues of hydrogen storage run through the hydrogen production, hydrogen transport, supply and demand for end use of hydrogen as an energy sources. (more…)

Biodiesel is more Efficient and in Harmony with the Environment

biodiesel efficient environment
Researchers at the University of Cádiz (UCA) propose a technological change in the current process onhow to make biodiesel more efficient and in harmony with the environment. The Department of Innovation, Science and Enterprise has financed the project of excellence ‘Development of a monolithic catalyst alumina / aluminum for the production of biodiesel’ with 62,000 euros. Hydrogen Delivery System – How to Distribute Hydrogen Energy from Productions to End Stations

hydrogen transport
An important element for the entire infrastructure of hydrogen energy infrastructure is having hydrogen delivery system the safely and efficiently deliver hydrogen from productions sites to end stations. Hydrogen delivery methods are varying widely, most of them depend on the hydrogen production method and end use. Currently, hydrogen is transferred to a limited number of production plants by using pipeline or transported by road via cylinders, tube trailers. (more…)

Gas to Liquids Process - Learn Gas to Liquid Technology Advantage

gas to liquids process
If you are not up-to-date with scientific developments, you probably have not have heard of the process of converting gas to liquids. It might not sound like it could apply to many people, but in fact it should appeal to everyone. This newer method of using our natural resources to our advantage could be the key to less reliance on foreign energy sources, resulting in lower natural gas prices. (more…)

Heat-Actuated Heat Pumps | Energy Application of Micro Technology

Heat-actuated heat pumps are cooling systems requiring no electricity for operation. Rather, a heat source is used, avoiding the need for batteries. This consideration is critical for portable applications because on a weight basis, a stored liquid fuel has anywhere from 35 to 300 times the energy content of batteries, depending on the battery technology considered. Thus, although the simple solution of combining an electric motor, a battery package, and a vapor compression refrigerator may sound appealing, it actually suffers a severe volume and weight disadvantage when compared with a heat-actuated system.
