Following the recent completion of three nuclear power plants, there is now some 9.6 GW of nuclear capacity in the United Kingdom. The nuclear share of electrical output, which has stood at around 13% for many years, should rise to around 20% when this capacity is in full operation. A further two reactors are currently under construction which will increase the British nuclear capacity to more than 12 GW by the late 1980s, which could bring the nuclear share of electrical output to around 25%. Sir Arthur Eddington’s general address on subatomic energy at the 1930 World Power Conference in Berlin stirred the imagination of every scientist and engineer present. The challenge was clear: find a practical means of accessing, controlling, and using the enormous energy locked in the atom as predicted by Einstein’s remarkable mass–energy relation, E=mc2. On December 2, 1942, Enrico Fermi transformed Eddington’s visionary challenge into reality by producing the world’s first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear reactor, Chicago Pile 1. Six decades later, nuclear energy now produces 16% of the world’s electrical power. (more…)

Energy exists in many forms. Some of energy forms are simple to use and identify as energy. But other forms of energy can not be seen until the energy released. Some forms of energy like light and sound, they carry energy from one place to another. There are also vibrating objects that carry the kinetic energy that makes the sound. The energy passes through the wave where the wave was originated. The higher the wave, it gives more energy. Light is also one form of energy. A light beam or light ray brings out energy from where there was light. This energy is often referred to as radiation energy. (more…)

Water power sources is an interesting source of energy. It is available freely in nature. The constant flow of water can guarantee the availability of energy. Water power take it sources of energy from the motion of water. The motion of water is happening in river, sea and water fall. This movement can be derived from two resources:
1. Flows of water streams, this is attracted by earth gravity force
2. Tides which are the rise and fall of sea level by moon and sun gravity force (more…)

Nuclear power plants have many different designs and shapes. Early technology restrictions in nuclear power plants make huge plants with the capability to produce the greatest amount of power possible. But with more recent technology, nuclear plants size are smaller , making them less costly and easier to build. But despite their many technical and engineering differences, nuclear reactors come in two basic types: pressurized water reactor systems and boiling water reactor systems. (more…)
