Mechanical Pulp Paper Production

Most discussions of energy use in paper production and papermaking are confusing because of a failure to define exactly what is meant by energy. It is important to keep track of the form in which energy is used. The major inputs to a paper mill are wood, purchased energy in the form of electricity and fossil fuels, and water. Some components of the wood are used as a raw material and some as by-product fuel. What the industry generally reports is the process energy use at the mill, which is the sum of the purchased energy and the process by-product energy (part of the energy originally in the wood) that is used. The Importance of Solar Energy and Home Ventilation

home solar energy
Our homes collect large amounts of solar energy, our homes when built are often placed on our sections to get the best solar energy from the sun, even years ago before we thought of using solar energy to heat or dry out your home the builders did this. We have known for years that the sun can be used to make our home feel warmer and better to live in. In fact in winter we look to find the warmest part of the home to sit to study or watch TV. If your home was placed well on your section this room is likely to be your lounge or conservatory. What about your bedrooms or study how do they get warmth and fresh air? (more…)

Use Ceiling Fans to Save Home Energy

Ceiling fans are a popular room addition; comfort can be easily obtained with a flip of a switch. An immediate cooling breeze is created by an electric motor with rotating blades. That motor uses electricity. Ceiling fan motors are not large, but energy can be wasted. Read on for tips on operating your ceiling fans so that you can be comfortable and save home energy.

Ceiling fans have a cooling effect, but do not cool. (more…)

Ecological Footprint Calculation and Resource Consumption

ecological footprint
The ecological footprint definition is a measurement that compares rates of human resource consumption and waste generation with the biosphere’s rates of resource regeneration and waste energy assimilation, expressed in terms of the area necessary to maintain these flows. Ecological footprints represent the biologically productive space required to produce the resources and absorb the waste biomass of a given population, organization, or product using prevailing management and technology.
