One of the main benefits from future use of biofuels would be the reduction of greenhouse gases compared to the use of fossil fuels. Carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming, is released into the air from combustion. Twenty-four percent of worldwide energy-related carbon emissions in 1997 were from the United States. Energy Demand and Energy Consumption: Some Current Issues

World energy use has increased steadily over the past several decades. Much of the growth in world energy consumption has been concentrated on the use of fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, and coal). This trend is expected to continue over the foreseeable future. Industrially mature nations will continue to rely on fossil fuels to meet their energy needs for all end uses, but the greatest rate of energy use is projected to occur in the emerging economies of the developing world. How Fossil Fuels Have Affected Our Environment and Lives

In the beginning, human progress was limited by the amount of work in single day. This is only to feed themselves and their families. At that time, the economy was largely rural as a result. In the early of 19th century, more intelligent human began to looking for energy resources to support their lives. They began to develop coal, oil, and other stored energy to supplement their prime energy source: sunlight. Sunlight energy results in overgrown plant and animal growth over huge and dispersed areas and geologic time periods. There was, and will continue to be, abundant solar energy sources available to get more fossil fuel, to do research on how to exploit these resources more efficiently, and to use them in daily life and changing their cultures.
